Kitchen Frontiers is laying down some fresh tracks in new territory. Community Frontiers, is an initiative to impact and uplift under privileged households by connecting resources with families in need. The idea is that rather than chucking out your old cupboards and countertops, why not donate it to a home that could really use them? Through Kitchen Frontier’s long-standing relationship with Take Action Ministry, homes in need are identified and selected…and voila! Multiple lives are changed.
“It’s something that we’ve wanted to do for so long now,” says the dynamic Kitchen Frontiers team. “Living in a country with such deep chasms of economic class, we are constantly given opportunities to add value. The exercise of connecting people who have with people who need is not a difficult one. But when you do it, there is a disproportionate ripple effect of benefit and blessing that follows.”
The company has already made good on their offer. Thanks to the generous giving of clients, Jaco and Suzanne Kotze, five households were happily upgraded with the couple’s former kitchen elements. Christina Tshwane, mother of three in Nelmaphius, and Katrien Makhabane, mother of nine in Mamelodi, expressed their gratitude with spontaneous song and clapping. “We are too happy and grateful for this gift. It may be something small to you, but to us it will make a very big difference,” says Christina.
Previous to this event, Community Frontiers added some adventure to the Hammanskraal area, by donating a jungle gym to the playground of Detibogo Drop In Centre. Thys Swart, Managing Director of Kitchen Frontiers, is positive about the project: “Through small acts of kindness we have the potential to really make a difference. What we see as installing wood and nails may be more a case of instilling dignity.” Now that’s an upgrade worth investing in.
