The kitchen is one of those spaces in the home that needs to be able to handle a lot of traffic. While a functional kitchen is great, you’ll want it to be just as beautiful as it is useful.

Creating the kitchen of your dreams requires careful planning. You need to consider the type of kitchen and materials you like as well as the space you have to work with. Below are 5 super helpful tips from the pros to remember during your next kitchen renovation.

Install an Island If Possible

Counterspace is more valuable than gold, especially if you spend a lot of time in the kitchen. A kitchen island will provide you with ample space for food prep as well as storage space and seating. It’s a win-win. If your kitchen is big enough, we suggest an island.

Put Your Trash Bin Within Reach

We realise that trashcans aren’t exactly aesthetically pleasing to the eye. But, that doesn’ t mean you should shove it somewhere in a corner. To make clean up more efficient after a meal, put your bin somewhere close to the sink or counter.

Choose Lighting Wisely

When it comes to lighting, you have many things to consider. Not only do you need to choose the right type of lighting, but the location is also important. Keep the counters properly illuminated as well as the sink area to make prepping and cleaning easy.

Don’t Sacrifice Storage Space

You’re likely to have a lot of appliances and gadgets that need to be stored somewhere. Smart storage is vital if you want to be able to reach your stuff easily. Plan ahead and make sure you have enough space for everything.

Involve the Whole Family

Even if you do most of the cooking, it’s still important to involve the entire family in the remodelling process. If you have small children, including a drawer that will be easy for them to reach might be a good idea. With everyone’s input, you won’t have to worry about upsetting anyone with the end result.
